What Values Journey Is

Values Journey is a simple way of getting groups of people started on a journey of mutual understanding and cooperation.

With its “game” feel, it allows your staff to talk and recognise the values they have in common with each other and with the organisation. Values Journey is an interactive, engaging experiential learning process that explores personal values, improves team performance and transforms organisational culture.

You can use it by itself as a single event involving large numbers of people in defining the values of the organisation and committing to them. And you can also enrich the program with team activities that help the participants experience the power of each value. It is also easy to integrate the values experience within a comprehensive program such as an offsite workshop or an ongoing support program.

In our experience, we see that “culture programs” are effective when participants have fun and get fully engaged in the learning process. This is definitely an engaging tool that kickstarts the awareness of the desired culture and contributes to changing culture and bringing teams together.

It allows people to feel that they “own” the organisation values and to want to support their communication and application.

Values Journey – A 3-way win

This activity delivers good outcomes at 3 levels: individuals, teams and the whole organisation gain clarity and energy.

Individuals become aware of the fit between their own values and the organisation’s values. The also discover or rediscover how much they share their values with others in the business.
Gaining clarity on what matters, they may find it easier to make personal changes to their behaviours and to contribute to the transformation of the group.
As they participate in setting up a plan to live the agreed values, they can take pride in “owning” these values.

Teams typically function better, in a more positive, collaborative way which in turns leads to greater engagement and performance

Finally the organisation has greater confidence in achieving its goals as the teams are better aligned behind strategies and plans. Changing the culture of the organisation opens new opportunities.
