Everyone is unique and has a story to tell.
In fact it’s that story that makes us who we are today, how we lead, how we deal with conflict, how we deal with
pressure. In Simon Sinek’s words, “People don’t care WHAT you do, they want to know WHY?” Why do you do
what you do – beyond the pay cheque?
This is important for people to identify and articulate. People want to be led by those we respect, admire, trust.
These qualities rise to the top when we know that the person who leads us is real, and treats us like ‘people with
dreams and emotions’ rather than ‘lumps of meat’ where the ‘brains are left in the carpark’.
Such a leader shows vulnerability and is happy to share what has shaped them today as our “leader”.
(In other words they are happy to share that they are not perfect, make mistakes and ‘fess’ up to those mistakes).
