Hi,
Measure UP or move OUT!
The most anxious moment after getting a health check is awaiting the doctor's report - particularly if you suspect there IS a problem.
Recently I had to deliver feedback to a team that had a culture of LOW TRUST / HIGH BLAME. Imagine the 'heat' I experienced delivering the poor team health report. Their perception of their environment (we're OK) was a far cry to the reality (toxic).
My toy dummy went into overdrive (from all the dummy spits!)
It's times like these that we feel like 'putting the head into the sand' and just hope the problem will go away.
Can you relate to that?
The Bridgeworks HEALTH CHECK includes measuring people's leadership style , flexibility & TRUST BUILDING abilities - AS SEEN BY OTHERS. Just like a lot a blokes, when it comes to going to the doctor for a check up, some prefer the 'put the head in the sand' option. There could be feedback they don't like or it's 'all too hard'.
Low flexibility essentially means having Low trust building qualities - assessed by the people that follow you.
Scary stuff. But left untreated, low flexibility as a leader is like a cancer - it's toxic and it's contagious. Contageous to those that you lead and to the culture of your organisation.
Fortunately many see the feedback as a way to improve their interpersonal health. Gutsy, but well worth it. And at times a little pain for a BIG GAIN.
For these people getting this REALITY CHECK is often a significant turning point in their professional life to greater success and happiness. The journey to a higher EQ or "Emotional Intelligence" begins.
In leadership if you are not prepared to be measured by the people you lead and ASK your people how you can lead them better, move on before 'the cancer' brings you and your business down.
Have a great week and see all you Rock 'n Rollers! |

Good Management Tips
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Puff! She's gone."
Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing onthe beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Puff! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."
Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.
All the best
